I don’t think I made it very clear but last month I was sexually assaulted by someone who I thought was my friend (I don’t want to talk about it don’t ask), and it’s… really fucked with my head.
Had I known this a month ago I would have been able to get away.

That’s why when all of the remaining Avengers watch War Machine fall down from the sky in the news from their hideout in Wakanda, only Steve remains calm. Steve knows that Tony will never let his friend get hurt again. Not even one minute later Rhodey gets armor’s control again and lands safely to ground.
After Obadiah Stane fooled Tony and Tony almost lost his life and saw everything he created used out of his control, Steve knows that Tony never lets anything happens in his company without his knowledge. Tony checks everything and every person who works for him twice, three times. Sure it might look like Pepper is the charge of everything and Tony is only working when he wants to. But Steve knows that Tony didn’t become the successful businessman he is today without working hard.
Whenever one of the Avengers gets hurt on a mission Tony always locks himself in his workshop and analyzes everything went wrong in the fight. He would sit there hours watch the same clip again and again. Then he wouldn’t get out of there until he finds a solution. At first it would drive Steve crazy but now Steve can see it why. Mistakes can’t be part of Tony’s life because it will always end badly for Tony.
So, when Steve and others pardoned and get back to America, when Tony greet them on the compound and shakes their hands like they didn’t almost kill each other two years ago, Steve knows that nothing will be same between them anymore.
Because Tony Stark never makes the same mistakes twice.
Oh wow, somehow I did not see that last sentence coming and that just made the hit all the harder.
